Why I believe in positive assessments
By Kerwin Bradshaw, Consultant & GenAI Solutions Developer at Voice Your FutureA moment that stayed with me
Not long ago, I coached a senior leader who kept apologizing for how she was. “I’m too direct.” “I’m difficult to work with.” And I simply said: “I also see courage.” She paused. Looked up. Something shifted. That’s what language does. It doesn’t mask, it reveals. What you name, you give space to.
The voice between nature and nurture
Through our voice analysis, I see how nature and nurture blend into one. Your voice reveals what lives deep inside — sometimes long before you find the words. It doesn’t betray you, it unveils you. That’s the power of our approach: your voice shows both who you’ve become, and who you’ve always been.
What I believe about assessments
People often confuse positivity with kindness or politeness. But in my work, it’s about something deeper: space. The invitation to be yourself — not despite your rough edges, but because of them. I believe assessments shouldn’t judge but reflect. Not ask, ‘Do you fit?’, but explore, ‘Who are you?’
From friction to recognition
In a recent executive team process, people worked well on paper. But underneath, there was tension. It wasn’t until we created one-on-one spaces that the deeper truths surfaced. One person said: “I always thought my controlling behavior was wrong. Now I see it’s rooted in fear. Now I can start to let go.”
My roots, my perspective
Maybe my perspective comes from my background. I grew up where positivity wasn’t a luxury. It was how we held each other. We saw each other, especially when someone didn’t fit the mold. That presence taught me that people don’t need correction first. They need to be seen.
What Voice Your Future stands for
At Voice Your Future, we assess through the lens of your voice: what you express and what remains unspoken. We don’t filter, we listen. Because development doesn’t begin with measuring up. It begins with being met.
That’s my why
For the moment when someone hears themselves and says: “That’s me.” For the shift from defense to discovery. For leaders who want to grow with clarity, not performance. For assessments that don’t fit you into a box, but give you the words to stand in your story.
